“The birth was a wonderful, crazy experience! ”
Jessica, Peaceful Birthing Mother
We welcomed tiny little Halle Mae Birt on the 8/11/21, four days before her estimated due date, weighing 5lb 10oz, 48cms long.
The birth was a wonderful, crazy experience! I was having surges two nights before she came. On the Monday morning they were getting quite intense so Brad came home from work and we went into the hospital after a few hours. The midwives were so lovely and really let us do our own thing. By 4pm I was 4cm dilated and we were going to go home but then my waters broke so they wanted to do a swab for strep B, so we ended up staying as my surges were very close together by then.
“I decided to get in the shower to help relieve some of the pressure and within literally two minutes I was shouting ‘she’s coming right now!’ “
Brad wasn’t even in there with me as he was getting something haha from there they set up a mat on the floor beside the bed and I was on my knees leaning over the ball. She was out in 20 minutes! So it was fortunately quite quick. She was born at 8.50pm, time seemed to go so fast when we were in the hospital, it felt quicker to me.
“Brad was amazing, reminding me to breathe through all the surges, he said I was like Wonder Woman!
The midwife said we are her “birthing goals” as she was pregnant! ”
Halle had low blood sugars so had to be monitored for a few days, it was hard seeing her tiny feet get pricked every two hours. I had to do a lot of hand expressing with the midwives to help boost her levels, so we were pretty exhausted in the hospital. It was so lovely to get home. The midwife came out twice to check on Halle and I which was great. And now we are in the groove. We had a few ‘cluster feed’ nights which were full on but she is now getting better at sleeping for 2 to 3 hours between feeds.
Brad’s been back at work this week so Halle and I are just getting into our routine, feeling really good all in all!
Thank you so much for everything!
Welcome earthside baby Halle!
